FOOTBALL FOOD
This past weekend was a football frenzy at our house. I decided since everyone was in front of the television, I needed finger foods on which to munch. These Lil Smokies really are a favorite of my kids. I first tried them at a family reunion and then found the recipe in a magazine a few months later. After a few modifications, here is what I came up with:
1lb bacon, cut into thirds
1 bag 100% beef Lil Smokies
1 bag C&H light brown sugar (You'll use about 3 cups)
I cut off the ends of the weenies. Then roll the weenie in the brown sugar as well as the bacon in the brown sugar. Wrap bacon around the weenie and secure with a tooth pick.
Put onto a foil lined cookie sheet. When done, sprinkle a couple of handfuls of brown sugar across the Smokies. this forms the carmel coating, so don't be skimpy. Cook for about 37minutes @ 400 degrees. I cook them on the rack just below the center one. I like my bacon really well done.
